Echoes of My Ancestors Free Lecture
This lecture began as a St. Patrick's Day gift to the quilting community, and the response was so warm that it is now available all year round.
Celtic design has inspired artists for centuries, and it continues to inspire my work as a quilt designer. In this talk I share a little of the history and symbolism behind these intricate patterns from ancient knotwork and illuminated manuscripts to the quilt blocks on your design wall and show how that rich visual tradition can be translated into fabric.
Whether you are new to Celtic design or have long been drawn to it, this is a quiet hour in good company.
Watch it free, at your own pace, any time.

Celtic Love Knot Quilt Along
Isn’t the Celtic Love Knot Quilt complicated?
I get asked this all the time—and the answer surprises people.
The Celtic Love Knot Quilt looks intricate, but it’s far more approachable than it appears. With a few partial seams and clear, step-by-step instructions, the design comes together smoothly and logically.
If you can sew a log cabin block, you can make this quilt.
And the bonus? There are very few seams to match.
What people are saying
Leona has blessed me with several quilts that were created out of precious family linens and clothing. She is a true artist and every quilt is made with love from the heart. I will treasure these memory quilts forever
— Nancy
Leona took a simple idea and created a stunning heirloom quilt that I will cherish for many years. Inspired by Japanese shoji screens with symbols of cherry blossom (Spring) on front and an explosion of firework color print on back, stitching in gingko leaves (endurance and vitality) and dragon flies (summer, autumn, power, agility and victory) it keeps me warm and reminds me that life is short and should be happy and long.
— Michael
Leona gave my old sorority t-shirts a new life by turning them into a beautiful quilt. I loved working with Leona. She made the design process a breeze. I enjoyed receiving sneak peeks along the way. The workmanship of the quilt is amazing. My quilt has become a cherished keepsake.
— Brittney
Leona McCann
Leona’s quilting journey began over 16 years ago when a visit to a local quilt shop ignited her passion for fabric and design. Originally from Ireland, she grew up surrounded by Celtic artistry, with a deep fascination for the intricate knotwork of the Book of Kells. This inspiration shapes her quilting today, where she brings Celtic designs to life through piecing, embroidery, and Longarm quilting.
With a background in high tech, Leona gravitated toward computerized quilting, becoming a Certified Art and Stitch Instructor in 2012. She now shares her expertise through her Celtic Love Knot Workshop, where she helps students uncover the magic of interwoven designs. For Leona, quilting is not just about creating beautiful pieces—it’s about
preserving and sharing her rich cultural heritage
